Job Description: Electrical Estimator
Position: Electrical Estimator
Location: Durham, NC
Travel Required: Local – Will have company vehicle to use for any travel needs.
Shift Hours: 7:30 – 5:30 Mon – Thur.
Pay Range: 80,000 – 85,000
Role Summary: As an Electrical Estimator, you will be integral in delivering value to our clients by preparing detailed cost estimates for electrical projects. Your role will involve analyzing project plans, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring accurate and comprehensive bids that align with our company’s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documents: Receive and download bid documents and addendums.
- Review Project Materials: Analyze project plans, specifications, bid documents, and other relevant materials to assess the components needed for bid proposals.
- Cost Calculation: Determine the cost of electrical construction by reviewing and evaluating available documents.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss estimates, plan development, and resolve any issues.
- Help to develop and maintain relationships with customers, designers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Coordination: Engage with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding any modifications or adjustments needed for cost estimates.
- Estimate Preparation: Develop accurate detailed estimates for management use, including planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Evaluate constructability of design documents and submit requests for information (RFI) where information is incomplete
- Field Walk-Throughs: Attend Pre-Bid and job site walk-throughs to identify field conditions that could impact construction or bids.
- Vendor Engagement: Notify and send out bid documents and bill of materials to vendors and subcontractors for quotation. Evaluate quotes for materials, equipment, and services and maintain positive relationships with them.
- Bid Documentation: Prepare bid documents with detailed scope letters, evaluations for procurement, labor rates, and productivity, addressing any inconsistencies or issues.
Other Responsibilities:
- Work as a team with other estimators, departments, and divisions.
- Conduct turnover meetings with project management and supervisors to convey scope of work and how the project was estimated.
- Mentor, train and help develop new employees in the department.
- Assist with database management and development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years
- Project Scale: $250,000 to $20,000,000
- Knowledge: Field experience and National Electrical Code
- Software Proficiency: Word, Excel, estimating software
- Additional Software:Trimble Accubid Anywhere (Enterprise) and Live Count (on screen take-off) experience a plus, but not required.
